About our Japanese classes

Japanese is three writing systems and a politeness structure that English simply does not have, so teaching it as vocabulary plus grammar leaves learners fluent on paper and lost in a room. We teach hiragana and katakana from the first week and introduce kanji steadily alongside the speech levels that decide whether you sound respectful or rude.

Coursework follows the JLPT ladder from N5 upward, which is the certification Japanese universities and employers recognise. Classes are online, 1:1 or small-batch.

We encourage flexible learning, providing 1:1 sessions and small batches that fits your schedule.

Japanese classes — common questions

Which Japanese levels do you teach?
N5 and N4, with JLPT-aligned preparation.
Do I have to learn kanji?
For reading anything real, yes — but it is introduced gradually alongside vocabulary you are already using, not as a separate memorisation project.
Do you prepare students for the JLPT?
Yes. Coursework is aligned to the JLPT format for the levels we teach.
Can I start Japanese with no background at all?
No prior knowledge is needed. Complete beginners start at the first level and we place returning learners after a short conversation, so you begin where you actually are rather than where a syllabus assumes you are.
